Do you have trouble sitting still when you hear nice music? Would you love to find out what you can do with your body? Do you want to learn how to get inspired to make your own choreography? This dance week, you will learn the basics of several modern dance techniques. You don’t have to be an experienced dancer, the one thing you need is the need to dance!

The course
Every week will be different, depending on the teacher. Nicola’s focus will beo n modern dance, Rebacca’s on hiphop/urban.
Every day starts with a good warm-up. You will learn different techniques to focus on breathing, the dynamic process of tension and release that will lead to movement and flow and off-balance, which is about letting go of your control. You learn about the basics of classical dance, modern dance, jazz and several other styles. Next to learning the techniques, you will learn about the story behind them, but also about musicality, rhythm, use of space and expression.
You will get assignments to improvise and make choreographies, together with the group but also solo or with a few other dancers. The focus lies on personal interpretation and creativity. You improvise in relation to each other and the space around you.

The CREA Dance teachers all work from their own expertise and experience. Because of this, each course will have a different focus, but you will always learn the same basics.
Nicola has a background teaching Floorwork and works from the Release technique with influences from Alexander technique. She brings her personal interest in dance cinema to the Dance Studio, which might include creating a short dance film (shot on mobile phones).
Rebecca works from urban and modern (jazz) dance. Apart from learning techniques originating in hip hop, modern and jazz, the group will learn phrases of choreography combined with parts from improvisation assignments. In the mornings, the focus lies on urban/hiphop, in the afternoon another teacher will teach about (modern) jazz.
Feadan works with themes like center, balance, force, length, flows and grooves, rhythm and the use of the floor. She also finds it important that course participants collectively explore their own dance language in freestyle sessions, using different ways of working.
