Film Studioprintversie

A workshop in narrative filmmaking; documentary and fiction. How do you effectively tell a story with moving images and sound? How do you write a script or documentary plan? What do you need to know about working with actors? How do you create tension? What kind of filmmaker are you?

The course
You will learn about all aspects of filmmaking: screenwriting, directing, shooting and editing. Through hands-on exercises you’ll learn how to use the camera and sound equipment. In small groups you will develop the story, produce the shoot, and divide the different crew roles. After the shoot you will edit your footage into a short film to premiere on Friday night.

If you already have a story idea or plan at the start of the course, that can serve as your point of departure. But you can also participate without an idea. You work in a group and during the making of the final film you will deal with one of the tasks of the process, like camera, sound or direction.

The CREA film teachers all have their own expertise and experience. Tess’ focus is on fiction, Ton on documentary and Ellen on both. In all weeks, you can decide with your group if you want to shoot a fiction or documentary film. The basics will always be the same.

Extra info
Most of the shooting takes place on Wednesday, so you cannot make other plans for that day. We shoot with small digital video cameras and use Premiere CC in the edit. You work in small groups, sharing the different tasks of the filming process.

Every week ends with presentations on Friday evening at 7 pm, where each course will show what they worked on that week. On Monday evening there will be a side programme.
