The Digital Photography base course is designed for students who are either just breaking into the field of photography or who have had a minimum of formal training.

We will explore the creative and technical possibilities that a digital SLR shares with a traditional film camera and how to use them to create the best possible image.

Topics will include camera components, shutter speed, aperture, focal length, composition, white balance, color temperature, the advantages of shooting in different file formats, introduction to printing and the relationship between form and content.

Hint lectures on historical and contemporary artwork will explore the aesthetics of photography and weekly assignments will build digital techniques.
